Today I stop making excuses
and numbering on two hands
all the other things I ought to be doing.
Today I fold open the pages
of what is mine in this moment
and I spill the contents of an hour,
so that tomorrows from now
I can recall the subtle
sweetness of lavender soda
and how hot it was
in the art room this
late summer afternoon.
